Eagles Lose Lead Twice and Fall to the Visiting Barons

Waleska, GA - Eagles let a good day at the plate from Richard Castro and Nash Crowell slide by on late-inning errors and pitching issues. The Eagles lost the lead twice in this single midweek game with Brewton Parker and give the game to the Barons, 8 to 7.

Nash Crowell struck first with his homer in the first inning and Richard Castro repeated the same going over the left field fence in the second and sixth innings. All three homers were solo shots and gave the Eagles the lead in the game. Crowell was 2 for 4 in the game with one RBI and Castro was 2 for 2 in the game with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Castro's third RBI came from a sac fly in the seventh inning which scored Dawson Johns.  Another notable was Jarrett Burney who was 2 for 5 with a double.

The story of the game ended up being pitching issues and errors, which ended up costing the Eagles the game. Parker Miller would get the start on the mound for the Eagles and he pitched a decent game pitching 4 complete innings. Miller would have 4 strikeouts and only allowed one hit. The remaining innings would see the Eagles give up 7 hits and 7 runs in the last half of the game. Four of the seven runs were earned runs with the other three coming from errors by the Eagles. The Eagles gave up six runs total in the seventh and eighth innings which were the back-breaker in the game.

The Eagles will need to put this loss behind them quickly and get ready for the AAC game with Union at the end of this week. The forecasted rain at the end of the week has made the schedule change and more changes could happen. As of now, the doubleheader with Union is on Thursday at 3 pm and 6:30 pm.
