Dockery & Crowell Homer in CIU Series Finale
Waleska, GA - With a day break between games, the Eagles and Rams were able to finish the three-game series on Monday afternoon. The Eagles bats have been hot all series and they did not let up today outscoring CIU 10-3!
All the runs for CIU came in the first inning with Jordan Hampton on the mound for the Eagles. It was a slightly shaky start for Hampton - but he settled down and pitched great through the seventh inning. He was able to get 7 strikeouts in the seven innings and had 7 hits scattered across those innings and this gives Hampton his third win of the season.
Hampton was helped out by his offense - which was led by the hot bat of Lance Dockery. Dockery has been on a tear this season and he does not show signs of slowing down. He had a home run, a double, and a triple in the game. His home run gives him 8 so far this season and he is batting .381.
Jarrett Burney's bat is just as hot and the duo has been carrying the Eagles' offense so far this season. Burney had a double in the game and scored 2 runs. Burney is hitting .435 so far this season and has 4 home runs.
Joining Burney and Dockery today was the big bat of Nash Crowell who hit a homer in the first inning scoring Dockery. The Eagles picked up all the runs they needed in the bottom of the first scoring six runs, but they were able to get single runs the rest of the way.
Last but not least, the bat of All-American Tucker Zdunich has been heating up the past few games and is starting to make his presence felt. This should be a scary awakening for opposing teams because Zdunich is going to keep getting better as this season progresses. His bat along with Dockery, Burney, Crowell, Rabe (and the list goes on) - this is going to be a lineup to fear as the playoffs approach.
