Waleska, Ga. - This would be one day that Eagles Baseball would like to take a "do-over". St. Andrews was in for their second day to finish out the three-game series and the teams would get in two games today.
GAME ONE:
Summary: This game would be a pitching duel as both starting pitching was making it very difficult for the teams to get hits. Each team would score one run in the first inning and then go scoreless in the next four innings. In the sixth inning, both teams would score two runs each. Reinhardt would get the runs in the sixth inning when Lance Dockery homered to left-center field knocking in Patrick Baggett. The game was tied at 3-3 after the sixth inning. The next run would come in the top of the seventh for the Knights. The Eagles could not take advantage of the good pitching performance by Ethan Foley and the final score of game one would end up 3-4 St. Andrews.
Top Performers:
• Ethan Foley, 7 strikeouts and only allowed 4 hits in 7 innings.
• Jordan Hampton, 2 innings pitched, zero runs, 2 strikeouts, 1 hit allowed.
• Lance Dockery, home run, 2 RBI
• Alex Coulter, 2 for 4 hitting.
GAME TWO:
Summary: The Eagles would hold a narrow lead in the second game of the doubleheader through five innings of the scheduled seven-inning game. Parker Miller was the starting pitcher for the game and had a pretty good showing getting two strikeouts in his four innings of work. Miller would only allow one run, but things would change some once the relief pitching came in. After Miller left the game, the Knights were able to make a comeback getting a couple of runs in the fifth inning, however, the Eagles still had the lead going into the sixth inning with the score set at 6-4. The top of the seventh would be the one inning where things went downhill fast. Reinhardt would give up seven runs in this final inning and see their lead go out the window. It was a game that the Eagles had in hand and was given away by some costly errors in the field and the relief pitching not getting their jobs done. Losses like this really hurt because this was a conference opponent and the win was there to take. The final would be 11-6 for St. Andrews.
Top Performers:
• Albert Mora, 2 for 4 with a double and scored two runs.
• Alex Coulter, 2 for 3 hitting.
• Parker Miller, 2 strikeouts in 4 innings with one run allowed.
The Eagles will have no time to rest as they will be back in action on Tuesday for another doubleheader. Toccoa Falls will be visiting Reinhardt for a noon start for game one. The second game will begin shortly after the first game ends. The Eagles will have another conference match-up this weekend for a Friday/Saturday series with Johnson (TN).
