Four Eagles Take Home All-AAC Honors Tuesday

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced the 2021 Baseball All-AAC Teams and Awards on Tuesday night, and four Eagles combined were featured on the lists.
Alex Watkins highlighted the honors by being selected to the All-AAC First Team, while three teammates – Daniel Dolensky, Andres Ugarte and Albert Mora – were all tabbed Second Team members.
All of the awards were voted on and selected by the baseball coaches of the AAC.

Watkins, the all-time saves leader in Reinhardt history, made 18 appearances in 2021 and compiled a 4-0 record with a 1.88 ERA and three saves. Batters averaged just .136 against him as her struck out 38.
So far on the season, Dolensky is 7-4 with a 3.27 ERA. The left-hander has thrown 71.2 innings and batters have connected at just a .192 clip with 66 Ks and only 19 walks.
Ugarte has once again been a force in the lineup for the hometown team, leading the club with a .331 batting average. The senior catcher has collected 44 hits, including 11 doubles and 26 RBIs. Ugarte also earned an on-base percentage of .452 with the help of 26 walks.
Behind the plate, Ugarte had a fielding percentage of .978, and caught 10 runners stealing.
Mora was second on the squad in batting at .310 while starting every game for the hometown club. The right fielder compiled 54 hits, including nine home runs and 13 doubles. He also brought home 41 teammates across home plate and had a slugging percentage of .563.
Mora also committed just three errors in the field.
The Eagles (31-17), who are the two seed in the AAC Championship, look ahead to the winner of No. 7 St. Andrews (N.C.) (25-17)/No. 10 Union (Ky.) (19-26) in a 4 p.m. matchup on Wednesday at Hunter Wright Stadium.
