Volleyball Inches Closer to Another Title With Friday Sweep
By Mike DeVader, Reinhardt Director of Athletic Communications & Media
GRAYSON, Ky. – Reinhardt volleyball hit the 25-win mark for the third-straight season on Friday night at new Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) member Kentucky Christian, as the Eagles improved to 25-2 on the year with a 3-0 victory over the Knights (25-23,25-16,25-22).
With the positive outcome, the hometown team's win streak continues to rise – now 19 in-a-row – as Reinhardt remains atop the AAC at 18-0.
"Really hard-fought win tonight versus KCU," head coach Brian Goodhind said. "I have to say it's great to have them join the AAC. They are well-coached, fight hard and are a very solid team. KCU is a team to watch out for… They came out fast and had us down right out of the gate. They served aggressive and their coaches had a good blocking scheme against us. It took some adjustments, but to our girls' credit, they handled the quick start well and stayed the course. I'm very proud of our team as they are really starting to trust the process. They never freaked out tonight, they just played together and stayed the course. Our middles, Shelby Glawson and Daisha Summerall, really helped us together offensively for a while and our team defense was pretty solid. At the end of the day, we went 1-0 and quickly have to put this match behind us and try to go 1-0 tomorrow.
All the Glory goes to God. #WePlayFor11."
Additional analysis and insight on the triumph will be added when stats become available.
It's a quick turnaround on the courts for Reinhardt as it lines up against Union (Ky.) in a monumental conference outing beginning at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
