BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Reinhardt was back on the hardwood for the first time in 2019 on Friday as the volleyball squad went 1-1 on the first day of Vette City Volleyball Classic in Kentucky.
The Eagles were able to claim back-to-back sets against the Phoenix of Cumberland (Tenn.) to win the match, 3-1 (25-16,23-25,25-15,25-15), before falling in straight sets to No. 9 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (23-25,10-25,17-25) to end the evening action.
Against the Phoenix, Reinhardt soared out of the gate with a nine-point win thanks to 12 kills on 23 attempts with only two errors (.435 hitting percentage). Both teams would battle throughout in stanza two as Cumberland would get even on the scoreboard after back-to-back points earned the squad a set victory, 25-23.
From there on, however, the Eagles would regain their footing and take sets three and four by a combined 20 points after tallying 16 kills in each game.

Assists Carlee Baxter (27), Erinn Marroquin (21), Mar Vives (6)

The Blue Raiders got all they could handle from Reinhardt in game two, especially early on in the contest, as the Eagles burst out to a 10-4 lead in the opening frame. Lindsey Wilson would slowly get back into the set and go on a 6-0 run to take an 18-17 lead. Both teams would trade scores and knot the scoreboard up at 22-22, but the Blue Raiders would take three of the next four points to win.
Lindsey Wilson's strong offense, coupled with Reinhardt miscues in sets two and three, resulted in a clean sweep for the Blue Raiders as they moved to 4-0 on the year while handing the Eagles their first loss on the young campaign.
