Another Narrow Loss for the Eagles against #17 SCAD Savannah
Savannah, GA - The Eagles continued their strenuous start to the 2023 season with another ranked opponent in SCAD Savannah. SCAD comes in ranked at #17 in the NAIA National Poll and after Monday's game with Keiser University (ranked #3 in the NAIA), the Eagles will have faced the #3, 4, 5, and #17 teams in the NAIA before entering conference play.
The Eagles would play another tight one with the Bees of SCAD Savannah and only give up a single goal. The goal would come late in the first half just before the halftime break.
Sarah Bambrick had another great game for the Eagles saving 8 goals from 9 shots on goal. Overall, the Bees had 22 shots in the game so the backline defenders, Sarah Bruce, Ella Higdon, Lidia Herrera, and Kennedy Vinyard along with Haley Sturla at CDM, had a tremendous keeping the goals from coming. As the season progresses and the Eagles move into conference play - the Eagles' offense will have had time to figure things out and start putting shots away at opposing goalkeepers.
At the moment, the goals are hard to come by and the team will have to figure things out fast to pick up play in the second half of the season. The Eagles had three shots in the game coming from Lidia Herrera, Marta Vincente-Arche, and Haley Sturla.
The next game for the Eagles is a Labor Day game with Keiser University, which is being played at SCADin Savannah at 1:30 pm and then they will have another road game with St. Andrews on Saturday, Sept 9th. The first official home game for the Eagles will come on Saturday, Sept. 16th with Columbia (AAC).
