Women's Basketball to Take on Dordt (Iowa) in National Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (Bracket) The runners-up during the regular season inside the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) have drawn third-seeded Dordt (Iowa), the 12th-ranked team in the country out of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), in the opening round of the 29th Annual Division II Women's Basketball National Championship on March 11-17 inside the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
The 22nd-ranked Eagles (26-3) – a six seed in the Duer Bracket – will take on the Defenders (24-8), an at-large team, on Thursday, March 12 at 1:45 p.m. CDT/2:45 p.m. EDT.
Both Reinhardt (0-3) and Dordt (0-1) will be looking for their first-ever team victory in the National Championship.
Most recently, the Eagles were upset in the AAC Semifinals by Union (Ky.) – who also made the National Championship – 81-75. The Defenders also lost in the GPAC Semifinals to Concordia (Neb.), 94-79.
This year's field consists of 25 automatic berths and seven at-large spots. Automatic qualification is given to conference regular-season champions, regular-season runners-up, tournament champions or tournament runners-up depending on the league.

The NAIA Network (www.NAIANetwork.com) – the association's official video streaming home – will broadcast the first 28 games leading up to semifinals and championship game on ESPN3. The video platform, powered by Stretch Internet, allows users to access video, statistics, and social interaction on a number of devices, including mobile.
