COLUMBUS, Ga. – Reinhardt softball got up early for its last get-together in the NFCA Classic, but the Eagles couldn't find the scoreboard in a 1-0 loss to Thomas More (Ky.) on Sunday morning to fall to 12-6 overall on the year.
"Things didn't go our way today," lead Eagle Jade Geuther said. "We had a 2-run double taken back, a couple of hard hits that they made good plays on and good contact on a good pitch from one of their kids that left the park for just their second hit of the day. Ally threw outstanding today and our pitching staff just has to stick with it; our hitting is our strength and it will come back around. We'll use the doubleheader against Mobile to get back on track and ready for the conference season.
"If you told me we'd be 12-6 at this point in the season, with our strength of schedule, I'd take it in a heartbeat. So, while losing isn't fun, the big picture is we are in a good spot."
Additions to the story and further analysis will be added once official stats are accumulated from the event.
The schedule doesn't get any easier for the hometown team, as Reinhardt travels to No. 7 Mobile (Ala.) on Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
