WALESKA, Ga. – Eagle softball hit double-digit wins on the season after securing a perfect 3-0 slate on day two of the Reinhardt University Invitational on Saturday, as the hometown team claimed victory over Midway (Ky.) (11-5), No. 20 USC Beaufort (S.C.) (11-4) and No. 13 Campbellsville (Ky.) (3-2) in the nightcap.
The Eagles are now 10-3 so far in 2020 after completing its biggest stretch of the season to-date.
"We couldn't have asked for a better day since we had three great pitching performances, our offense steps up to the plate and expects to do damage and we're learning to find ways to enjoy the defense as much as we do the offense," head coach Jade Geuther said. "This is a no-excuse bunch that wants to be better every day no matter what the circumstances are, and that makes coaching them extremely enjoyable.
"I couldn't be prouder of them or happier with our weekend."
Reinhardt vs. Midway (11-5)
- After being down, 3-1 heading into the bottom of the third, the Eagles went on a 10-2 run over the final innings to win.
- Both times the visiting Eagles netted multiple runs, Reinhardt had an answer with five in the third and four in the fifth.
- The hometown club gathered 12 hits and was led by Lauren Parker (3-for-4) who also scored four times.
- Four additional players netted two hits each as well.
- Ansley Byers went seven innings for the win with three earned runs allowed.
Reinhardt vs. No. 20 USC Beaufort
- The Sand Sharks, who blanked the Eagles on Friday, got off to another good start with three runs in the first inning and one in the third, but were held scoreless the final four frames.
- Reinhardt tied the game in the fourth following its fourth run in the middle innings, but a seven-spot in the sixth blew the game wide open.
- The hit parade continued for the Eagles as they accumulated 14 hits, three of which came off the bat of Emily Loveless (three runs scored).
- The top of the order was dominant, as five of the top six batters had two-or-more connections.
- Witney Bones put the nail in the coffin with a pinch-hit, 3-RBI double in the sixth inning, and then Ally Andriano finished what she started with a complete-game performance with 3 Ks.
Reinhardt vs. No. 13 Campbellsville
- The nightcap of the six-game Saturday turned into a nail-biting pitcher's duel with just 13 combined hits.
- The Tigers' offense had been unstoppable in the first three games of their season, scoring no less than eight runs before matching up with the Eagles.
- Alise Hooks doubled down the left-field line in the second for a 1-0 lead, but Campbellsville got a run of its own in the top of the third on a single.
- Each team would score again in the sixth – both RBI-doubles – before Reinhardt side-stepped an error to get back in the batter's box in the bottom of the seventh.
- A lead-off single, sacrifice bunt and a walk set the stage for a photo finish… After a popup, Emma Adams doubled to right-center to bring home the winning run.
- Lauren Parker and Hooks both got two hits, and while in the circle, Reagen Radke battled her way to a complete-game victory after giving up just six base-knocks.
