Castillo, Simon, and Vincent Compete at NAIA National Championships
Tallahassee, FL - On Friday, November 18th, Reinhardt Cross Country had three athletes running in the 2022 NAIA Cross Country National Championships. Brooke Simon competed for the Women's Team and Salvador Castillo and Tom Vincent competed for the Men's Team. All three qualified for their high finishes in the AAC Championships.
Brooke Simon finished with a time of 19:51 in the NAIA Women's 5K. Simon has had a great season running for the Eagles and is often at the top of the pack at any meet. She was one of 326 runners in the NAIA meet.
Salvador Castillo finished with a time of 25:46, which put him in the top half of the total group. There were 318 total runners on the men's side. Tom Vincent finished with a time of 27:07. Both Sal and Tom have a great season running for the Eagles keeping the team among the top teams in the AAC.
Milligan has a very strong program in the AAC and they finished in second place on both the women's and men's sides. Dordt University was crowned as the winner on the men's side and Taylor University (IN) won on the women's side.
Just to qualify for the NAIA Nationals is a great honor and gives these three something to build on for the upcoming Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field seasons. The Indoor Season will begin in December.
Great job Brooke, Sal, and Tom! Eagle Nation is proud of you and the hard work that you put in each day! We see each of you and the teams running early in the mornings or afternoons each day and we appreciate the dedication you give to the sport and to Reinhardt University!
