Records Get Shattered at Royals Challenge
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - (Men's Results | Women's Results) It was one of the most memorable afternoons in cross country history on both the men's and women's sides for Reinhardt on Friday as the Eagles competed to the best of their abilities in stacked fields while school records fell at the Royals Cross Country Challenge.
The men's team finished about middle of the pack against a monumental leaderboard full of all divisions of schools (31st out of 57). The women finished in 55th-place overall.
"Great meet for us as we saw the school record fall on the men's side with Jackson running a phenomenal race to finish in 24:42," head coach Jordan Turner said. "He's in great form and looks primed to defend his individual conference title in four weeks at the conference meet. Brian ran exceptional as well, running a personal-best 26:08; a time which puts him in the top 25 of all-time 8K performances in Reinhardt history. Great to see some more personal bests from Braden (27:11), Brody (28:50), Robert (28:59), Parker (29:11), Brandon (29:16) and Jake (30:57). All these performances came regardless of some very bad and dusty conditions that made it hard for me to see everyone at times. Good step in the right direction for this group and excited to see us let loose at conference in a couple weeks.
The women ran well while battling those same awfully dusty conditions and came out with some season-best performances â" Caprice (20:35), Carly (22:12) and Ashlyn (25:09) all had season-bests. Good to see them continuing a positive trajectory of their seasons as we head into conference in a couple weeks."
Up next on the schedule for both teams is the Berry (Ga.) Invitational on Oct. 19.
