Henderson Stands Tall Against NCAA Competition, Earns AAC Award

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Jacob Henderson of Reinhardt is Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Henderson earned a fall against NCAA DII Brian Girard (Belmont Abbey (N.C.)) before narrowly upsetting both DI opponents - Brandon Sloop (UNC-Pembroke) and Tyrie Houghton (NC State) - in 6-4 and 8-6 decisions, respectively, at 197 pounds for the 2nd-ranked Eagles.
This is the third edition of the weekly honors for the 2019-20 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Nov. 25.
AAC Wrestler of the Week
Jacob Henderson - So. - Armuchee, Ga.
- Earned a fall over NCAA DII Brian Girard of Belmont Abbey (N.C.) in 2:45.
- Nearly earned big upsets against Brandon Sloop of NCAA DI UNC-Pembroke with a 6-4 decision and upset Tyrie Houghton of NCAA DI NC State with an 8-6 decision.
- This is his first weekly honor this season.
