Reinhardt Continues to Learn and Improve in Clash at No. 2 Campbellsville (Ky.)
By Mike DeVader, Reinhardt Director of Athletic Communications & Media
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The young men's volleyball program got another taste of one of the best programs in the country on Tuesday night, as the Eagles didn't back away from the challenge against No. 2 Campbellsville (Ky.) in defeat, 3-0, 19-25,19-25,15-25.
"Today was a great day to learn and grow," head coach CJ Shearer said. "Coach Snyder has done a tremendous job with that program, as evidence by their ranking and how they performed… That being said, I thought we absolutely had moments we showed we can play with that level of volleyball. The team competed hard from start to finish and never backed down. Jaxon Andersson played a very composed match today, showing huge growth this past week.
"Ultimately, I need to keep pushing this team to learn more, grow as players and execute better. They are doing the main things I have asked though: staying together and battling. To God goes all the Glory."
Jaxon Andersson led the way offensively by hitting .800 and securing four kills in five chances. Matthew Corrales also netted a game-high four kills, but struggled overall hitting the ball all night. Additionally on that side of the net, Ricardo Mujica (12 assists) and Gerald Moore both put up three kills as well.
In total, the squad (.021 hitting percentage) gathered 13 digs, 3 aces and 2 assisted blocks.
The Eagles also helped the Tigers with 14 errors.
Next up on the schedule for Reinhardt (1-4) is a trip to Kentucky for the Thomas More Invitational over the weekend, beginning with a matchup with the host school on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
