ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After speeding past an NAIA national 'A' standard in the 55-meter run in the semifinals (6.37 seconds) of the Tiger Indoor Invitational on Sunday, Otis Odom got fourth-place in the final with 6.42.
His semifinal run, after converted to 60 meters, is currently the No. 7 time in the NAIA at 6.85. That effort on the track earned Odom his first career Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week nod Monday afternoon.
Additionally, the Atlanta, Ga., native's time in the 55m, which is a Reinhardt school record, is the second-fastest across all collegiate levels, NCAA and NJCAA.
After 15 events scored, the Eagle men took home first-place with 110 points over a variety of schools in the field of 10 scorers, including multiple NCAA squads.
Next up is the Sewanee Indoor Invitational on Feb. 14.
