SEWANEE, Tenn. – (Results) The Fowler Center in Tennessee treated both the men's and women's indoor track and field teams at Reinhardt well on Saturday, as both groups of student-athletes shined in the Tiger Indoor Invitational.
After 15 events scored, the Eagle men took home first-place with 110 points over a variety of schools in the field of 10 scorers, including multiple NCAA squads. On the women's side, Reinhardt finished in eighth overall.
"Great day for our programs as we continued to make strides forward," head coach Jordan Turner said. "I feel like I say every weekend we compete, but these teams keep taking their level of competition up and up each week. I love where these teams are in terms of competitive nature at this point in the season. We make no secret that indoor is our preseason for the outdoor portion of our schedule, but to have three national standards in one day is a huge step for our program and something that has never happened in indoor or outdoor. Carson hit a national mark in the weight throw that he has been chasing for three years now; happy for him to have a 2.5-foot PR when he needed it the most. Tristian was a real surprise today for hitting a national mark in his second meet competing for RU. He competed in a multitude of events today so it was good to see him compete at a high level… Otis ran extremely well, notching an automatic 'A' standard for nationals and getting a well-rounded experience that will help him at nationals.
"Javen had an outstanding day for our ladies' squad by setting three school records on the day. She will be a tremendous piece for this women's squad as we continue to build that side. She took down the oldest school record we had on the women's side (long jump – 2015) and is within striking distance of an NAIA national standard in the triple jump. Carly got out of her comfort zone ran a really gutsy 3K effort to secure a third-place finish in what looks to be an AAC meet qualifying time of 12:27.42."
