Stankich Goal Leads Eagles to Win Over Bryan Reserves
Seth Stankich's second-half goal lifted the Eagle reserves to a 1-0 triumph over the Bryan (Tenn.) reserves on Tuesday night in Dayton.
The win put the Reinhardt reserves at 4-1 on the season.
The first half of the contest was a back-and-forth affair, as each team proved-to-be dangerous in the attack. The Eagles held a majority of the chances, but an outstanding display from the Bryan goalkeeper saw the match to a 0-0 draw at halftime.
The second period was all Reinhardt, as its high-pressured attack put the Lions under consistent pressure for the remainder of the match.
The Eagles' breakthrough came at the 70th-minute mark as a counter attack was sparked by freshman midfielder Omar Dhrif, who slotted a beautiful pass to Stankich through the run of play.
The junior midfielder made no mistake as he hammered the game winner past the Lion goalkeeper.
The Eagle defense, led by goalkeeper Nicholas Shierle and defenders Leonardo Ramos and Dimitrius Lewis, would hold strong for the rest of the match; earning the Reinhardt reserves a 1-0 shutout win.
The Eagle reserves return to action when they host Covenant College on Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Ken White Field at University Stadium.
