WALESKA, Ga. – For the second-consecutive game, Reinhardt men's soccer posted eight goals in a home victory, this time back in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play in a downpour against Kentucky Christian, 8-1.
Four scores by Aaron Whitten, including the first three on the board, helped solidify the Eagles' effort to an 8-5-1 overall record (6-2-1 AAC) after claiming three-straight wins.
Reinhardt was able to put this victory away early with seven goals in the first half. Following Whitten's trio of netted shots in the first 27 minutes, Taylor Gray and Trevor Robinson got on the board with tallies at 28:04 and 36:14, respectively, for a 5-0 advantage.
Over the next six minutes, Yosr Frej – from Whitten – and then Whitten himself found the scoresheet right before half for a 7-0 lead heading into the locker room.
The Knights were able to avoid the shutout with a score in the 67th minute, but the momentum didn't last long, as exactly 60 seconds later Gray answered the goal with the second of his own in the victory.
The Eagles held an overall shot lead of 26-3, including a 14-0 tally sheet in the opening half, thanks to terrific ball possession and limited offensive chances for Kentucky Christian.
Whitten had eight shots and Callum Lees collected a half-dozen.
Columbia International (S.C.) is up next on the schedule in the final regular-season home game at Ken White Field at University Stadium at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23.
