WALESKA, Ga. - The home opener inside Ken White Field at University Stadium for No. 24 Reinhardt was a hard-nosed, defensive clash against Dalton State (Ga.) on Thursday.
Unfortunately, for the Eagles, the Roadrunners were the only ones who found the back of the net â" a goal in the 69th minute â" in a 1-0 slugfest that saw a combined 13 shots.
Reinhardt fell to 1-1 following the outing, as the team put together just five attempts, including a pair in the second half.
"A team typically has the opportunity to learn far more from a game that was lost than a game you may win," head coach Joey Johnson said. "We need to embrace this opportunity to improve in areas that are necessary to perform to our full potential. I am looking forward to working with our guys in order to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead."
Taylor Gray notched two shots, one on-goal, and Niko Tzevelekos made three saves in defeat.
Up next is Ottawa (Ariz.) - who won, 6-0, on Thursday against Truett-McConnell (Ga.) - on Saturday morning in an 11 a.m. battle at home.
