Way-Back Wednesday: Kameron Williams Heads to Nationals After AAC Qualifier Championship

WALESKA, Ga. – Today's Way-Back Wednesday highlights Reinhardt men's golfer Kameron Williams as he took home medalist honors by claiming the individual championship in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Qualifier at Carolina Country Club in Greenville, S.C., on April 17, 2018.
Williams, the AAC Player of the Year, won by four strokes with an overall 1-under-par score of 215, and was the only player in the field – 54 participants – to finish the event under par.
Additionally, his victory qualified him for the 67thAnnual NAIA Men's Golf National Championship (May 15-18, 2018) at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
The senior from Braselton, Ga., led wire-to-wire in round three (74) after vaulting himself into the final grouping thanks to a second-round 65 (7-under) that followed his opening 18-hole score of 76.
As a team, the Eagles finished third overall out of 11 squads.
"Kameron played great the last two days, and he gets to go to Nationals in Moline, Ill., at TPC Deere Run which we went to two years ago when he was a sophomore," head coach Dan Mullins said. "We know the course and we are looking forward to going back."
Each of the five scoring players for Reinhardt placed in the top 43 on the leaderboard.
The second-highest finisher for the Eagles was Christopher Whitney (T6) after a final-round 75 to wrap up the competition nine shots back. Ryan Hoover (T15; +14) and Evans Nichols (24th; +21) both found themselves within the top 25.
Jake McWhorter rounded out the top five finishers for Reinhardt with a 43rd overall placement.
