Reinhardt Takes on Challenges at Skyhawk Invitational

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The competition level was high for both men's and women's golf this week at the Skyhawk Invitational, as the 17th-ranked Eagles finished the event in seventh place out of 17 teams, while the Reinhardt ladies grabbed 10th overall out of 13 squads in the two-day event.
The men teed it up for three rounds of play at Callaway Gardens, where the listed yardage was 7,057 and a par of 72. The Eagles finished with a 925 (+61), just two shots out of being in the top five at the invitational.
Individually, Hunter Clay got a top-15 placement at plus-10 after rounds of 77, 74 and 75 (+10; T14). Christopher Whitney bounced back nicely in the final round with a 73 to move back into the top 30 with a plus-14 overall card (T26). Jack Haller was just two shots back of Whitney in a tie for 34th, and rounding out the top five was Brooks Gineris (T45) and Lauri Malinen (T57) out of the 107 player field.
Lauren Welte paced the women's side of the tee box after carding a tie for 38th with a 23-over-par. Katie Kauffman was next in line just six shots back and both Brooke Newsome and Meg McCord finished in a tie for 55th.
The teams hit the course again next week as they participate in the Golden Tigers Invitational beginning on March 16.
