ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Blake McIntyre is the Co-Freshman of the Year in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) after he averaged 12.1 points per contest with 26 starts under first-year lead Eagle Justin Newton, the AAC office announced Wednesday.
The Buford, Ga., native had 328 total points with 114 made field goals in his first season in a Reinhardt uniform, including going 87-for-215 from beyond the arc (40.5 percent) to go along with 53 assists and 22 steals.
McIntyre, also on the All-Freshmen Team, proved-to-be durable when on the floor as well as he racked up 32.7 minutes each time out.
Not to be outdone, Marcus Kirkland – who put up nearly nine points and just over five rebounds per game – was chosen as the club's Champions of Character Team representative.
A half-dozen men's basketball players made the All-Academic list for their performance in the classroom as well.
