Eagles Finish With Sixth Consecutive MSC Championship
By Angel Cornista
Grayson, KY.- To complete the Eagles regular season, they finished with heads held high as they captured their sixth consecutive MSC Championship over the Knights of Kentucky Christian.
Despite a slow start in the first quarter, Eagle Keyovion Whitlock was locked in as he intercepted Riley Coopers pass in the early stage of the second quarter. However, this was not enough to stop the Knights from capturing their first touchdown to have Eagles down 0-9 leading into half-time.
Reinhardt came out with a shifted mindset after the half as Keyovione Whitlock recovered a 55-yd fumble which put Reinhardt on the board 7-9 as a James Hardy kick was good. The Eagles did not stop there as Terry Berdin rushed a 21-yd run to make the score 14-9 with another good kick from Hardy. This Eagle energy continued to push through as there was a punt block, returned 17 by Markel Sutton to move the score 21-9 and shortly after Devyn Collins rushed for a 2 yard run improving the Eagle score 28-9 at the end of the third quarter.
As the fourth quarter approached, within the first minute, Reinhardt ran four plays totaling in getting the eagles 48 yards down the field with Devyn Collins rushing a one-yard run touchdown to collect his second TD for the evening. Reinhardt kept their focus as Isaiah Black made an appearance with a 2-yard run advancing the Eagles score 42-9.
On the defensive side, the Eagles held the Knights to 9 points throughout the majority of the game. However, Reinhardt gave up a 17-yard pass to make the score 15-42 in the fourth quarter. With 4:44 left on the clock, Marcus Jefferson completed a 14 yard run for the Eagles, to end the conference match up 49-15.
The Eagles look to shift their focus for opening round of Nationals this Saturday at Home, time TBD.
