Eagles Bulldoze Through Bulldogs
By Erinn Marroquin
WALESKA, GA.- Reinhardt looked to finish their regular season home matchups in dominating fashion with a win over the Bulldogs of Union College (KY.) 47-7. They did so, while celebrating their seniors and the numerous accomplishments they've had as individuals and a team at Reinhardt University.
"Super proud of the senior class. They have laid a great foundation for years to come. I cannot say enough about each of them. The way they came to work everyday and tried to get better and cared deeply about Reinhardt University is a testament to their character and who they are." Said Head coach James Miller. "I thought we did a lot of good things on both sides of the ball. Constant pressure on the quarterback gave us 7 sacks and the ability to throw the ball through air with 237 passing yards for our offense. Navarie with another big day, totaling in 124 yards through the air."
He also mentioned the finer details of team effort and play as he stated, "I am just proud of this overall team's effort and the ability to create turnovers as well as do an excellent job on special teams. We have to continue to get better at all the little things. There have too many penalties and many self inflicted mistakes. All in all I love this team and what we are all about."
Although the Eagles picked up speed throughout the game, Union collected the first touchdown of the night, and their only one, at 5:55 in the first quarter. Billy Hall and Navarie Solomon used their strong connection once again as they delivered the first of seven touchdowns for their squad with 1:57 reamaining in the first. To open the second quarter, the Eagles came out strong with Billy Hall having his second completed pass of the game, this time to Javarsia Meadows for a 66 yard touchown.
Devyn Collins continued to be an integral part of the Reinhardt offense with two touchdowns and 73 rushing yards. Terry Berdin and Luis Morris each tallied a touchdown each.
The Eagle defense stood their ground with 7 sacks and 2 interceptions. The highlight of the game was an athletic interception from Tylan Ogelsby that resulted in a 90 yard pick six.
The Eagles are back in action for their final regular season game as they are set to travel to Kentucky Christian (Ky.) with a kickoff of 1:30 pm set for Saturday, November 13th.
