Reinhardt Reveals 2021 Schedule
By Mike DeVader, Reinhardt Director of Athletic Communications & Media
WALESKA, Ga. – Head coach James Miller announced today the 2021 schedule for the five-time defending Appalachian Division champions within the Mid-South Conference (MSC), which is highlighted by the season opener at Kennesaw State on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m.
The Eagles (9-1 in 2020) look to build on last season, which was postponed and played in the spring of 2021, where they made yet another appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series Quarterfinals.
"Very difficult schedule this coming fall with 11 games on it," Miller said. "First game of the year against a really good FCS opponent in Kennesaw State, and then we have a couple tough road trips to Ave Maria and Bethel University… Then we get into our Mid-South Conference schedule – and in the Mid-South – we're in one of the toughest NAIA football conferences in the country where you must come ready to play every week.
"I'm excited about our football team and excited about the direction we're heading, but we have to put in a lot of hard work in the coming months to make it a great year. I love our football team and staff, and we are ready to go attack the season."
For the upcoming fall, Reinhardt's slate features 11 total contests, six matchups within the MSC Appalachian Division and five games at home at Ken White Field at University Stadium.
The action begins under the lights on Sept. 2 when the Eagles visit the Owls – who were ranked 21st in the Athlon Sports Preseason FCS Poll – in the first home Thursday night game in Kennesaw State football history at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
The two programs have only played one other time on the gridiron back on Sept. 28, 2019.
Reinhardt then hosts back-to-back outings in the comfortable confines of Ken White Field at University Stadium (Sept. 11 and Sept. 18) with the Royals of Warner (Fla.) and the Tigers of Campbellsville (Ky.), respectively.
The Eagles then get back on the road for two more contests in-a-row, and it begins with a trip to Bethel (Tenn.) on Sept. 25. The calendar then turns to October as the hometown squad visits the Sunshine State and Ave Maria (Fla.) on Oct. 2.
Conference clashes then get underway the following week at home as the Rams of Bluefield (Va.) travel to Waleska on Oct. 9 to open Appalachian Division play. The entire Appalachian schedule alternates home and away dates for Reinhardt the rest of the campaign as it goes to Point (Ga.) on Oct. 16.
The second-place team in the division last year – Faulkner (Ala.) – comes back to town once again for another battle with the Eagles on Oct. 23.
Two of the final three get-togethers for Reinhardt in the regular season are on the road with trips to St. Andrews (N.C.) (Oct. 30) and at Kentucky Christian (Nov. 13).
Senior Day will be celebrated on Nov. 6 against the Bulldogs of Union (Ky.).
