Crowell and Herbert Lift Eagles Past Milligan in Game Two of the AAC Tournament
Kingsport, TN - Reinhardt Baseball relied on two of its stars to get past the Buffaloes of Milligan University in game two of the AAC Tournament. The Eagles were coming off a dramatic game one where catcher Matty Maurer hit a walk-off home run in a 12-inning game. They did not show any signs of slowing down behind the bat of Nash Crowell who had an outstanding game hitting two two-run home runs helping the Eagles get the 5-2 win!
Adam Christopher got the start in the game and he was able to go three innings before giving way to the Eagles' ace, Andrew Herbert. Christopher had a decent outing recording one strikeout and holding the Buffaloes to just one run. Herbert picked things up in the fourth and showed why he is an All-Conference pitcher and potentially another NAIA All-American season. Herbert struck out 9 batters and only gave up 2 hits. He did give up one run, but it was harmless to the outcome of the game. When Herbert is in the game, you can expect the opponent to struggle to get hits.

Crowell was the Man of the Game in this one as he would single-handedly produce the runs that would move the Eagles onto the next game. Reinhardt was down 2 to 1 heading into the late innings and that is when Crowell would work his magic. His first home run came in the sixth inning when he blasted a shot over the centerfield wall that scored Tucker Zdunich. This put the Eagles up 3 to 2 going into the seventh. The seventh inning was scoreless for both teams and the icing on the cake came in the bottom of the eighth when Crowell got his second two-run homer - this time over the left-field wall. Dylan Lewis was on base for the Eagles and the homer put the Eagles up 5-2.
Crowell had spectacular numbers in the game. He ended the day hitting 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
The first run for Reinhardt came in the third inning from a single by Lewis that scored Jacob Profit. Lewis was 2 for 3 in the game with a single RBI and one run scored. Adrian Vargas was the other multi-hit batter going 2 for 4 in the game.
