Eagles Lose a Tight One with Middle Georgia
Waleska, GA - It was a tough day at the office for the Eagles in their midweek game with Middle Georgia. It seemed like nothing could get going both offensively and defensively in the game, however, the Eagles were in the game to the very end. Reinhardt would eventually would give up the game to the Knights, 5 to 4, but the game had a different feel than many of the games we have come accustomed to this season.
Hal Stelljus would get the start for the Eagles and he would only get through the first two innings before being pulled in the top of the third. He did have a scoreless second inning, but the Knights were able to score two runs in the first from a two-run homer. Cobey Allison would come in to relieve Stelljus and he was one of the bright spots in the game for the Eagles. Allison pitched 3.2 innings and only allowed one hit and gave up zero runs. Parker Miller was another bright spot for the Eagles after he came off a good performance against Union last Friday as a starter. Miller only pitched one inning in the game with Middle Georgia, but he struck out three batters in his inning, which set up the Eagles' offense with a chance to tie or win the game in the bottom of the ninth.

Offensively, the Eagles did get things going until the sixth inning when they were able to tie the game at two all. Zach Rabe had a double which scored Jarrett Burney and Dawson Johns. In the next inning, the Knights took the lead again on a two-run homer, which had the Eagles playing catchup once again.
Nash Crowell would single in the bottom of the seventh where the Eagles would pick up another run. Middle Georgia had a few infield miscues that allowed Lance Dockery to score from first on Crowell's hit.
Middle Georgia put one more run on the board in the eighth inning and the Eagles would answer again in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own. The run came from Tucker Zdunich's double which scored Sam Kilgore who scored from first base. The score would be 5-4 Knights going into the final inning where neither team could get another run.
The Eagles would end the game chasing, but coming up just short. The big bats were not there in the game, but it is hard to keep this team down for multiple games. They have an important AAC series this Friday and Saturday at Tennessee Wesleyan which will have an impact on who will end up in first place currently and could be who is at the top when the regular season ends in a few weeks. Reinhardt will play one game Friday and then the doubleheader on Saturday.
