Milligan Survives Scare as Top Seeds Advance

Milligan Survives Scare as Top Seeds Advance

WALESKA, Ga. - All of the top seeds advanced in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Soccer Tournament, but it was far from easy for some teams.

No. 3 seed Tennessee Wesleyan had an easier time than the rest as it defeated No. 6 seed Bryan 4-0 as Jarimyah Cook provided two goals and Jonah Lewis chipped in a goal and an assist. Tennessee Wesleyan will play at No. 2 seed Columbia International on Tuesday in the semifinal round. The Rams picked up two goals from Fabio Bender in holding off the Knights of St. Andrews 3-2.

No. 4 seed Union came from behind to defeat fifth-seeded Reinhardt 2-1. An own goal in the 72nd minute proved to be the difference. The Bulldogs will visit the top-seeded Buffaloes of Milligan in the other semifinal match on Tuesday. Milligan tied No. 8 seed Truett McConnell despite outshooting the Bears 33-3. Milligan, though, advanced to the semifinal round via a penalty shootout, winning it 3-1.
