Brian Goodhind
  • Title:
    Director of Volleyball/Head Men's and Women's Coach

Bio

Brian Goodhind is in his sixth season as head coach of Reinhardt Women’s Volleyball and his fourth year as Director of Volleyball.

The lead Eagle, who has also helped with the implementation of men’s volleyball and club beach volleyball, transitions to 2020 with a 97-20 overall record with Reinhardt (.829 winning percentage) and a  205-87 mark (.702) in nine career seasons as a head coach.

In 2019, the hometown squad made more history on the court with an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC)-record 21st league victory en route to another perfect season in AAC play at 21-0. Additionally, dating back to 2017, the Eagles have notched 56 consecutive conference wins – which currently ranks eighth nationally in NAIA history.

The team finished 33-5 after claiming its third-straight AAC championship banner and third year in a row of qualifying for the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championship (back-to-back seasons at the Final Site inside the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa).

The biggest win to date for Reinhardt volleyball on the national stage took place on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, in the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, presented by Delta Hotels, against 12th-ranked The Master's (Calif.). The Eagles dug themselves out of a 0-2 hole to earn their first pool play victory in the history of the National Championship in a 3-2 thriller over the Mustangs – 24-26, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-10.

In his first season at the helm of the Reinhardt program in 2017, Goodhind helped the Eagles to a then-school-record 29-7 slate, including the first AAC regular-season title as a program (17-1) and the squad’s first-ever appearance in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round against Northwest (Wash.).

Goodhind came to Reinhardt after being the head coach at Webber International (Fla.) for six seasons, with a two-year stint as an assistant coach before taking the reins of the program.

In 2016, Goodhind led Webber International to a 28-3 record, an undefeated 14-0 mark in The Sun Conference (TSC), and an NAIA National Championship Opening Round appearance. The two losses in the regular season were both in five-set matches.

Goodhind would be named TSC and AVCA Southeast Region Coach of the Year, while two players earned AVCA NAIA All-American honors and three players were AVCA All-Southeast Region. His setter was named TSC Setter of the Year.

While with the Warriors, Goodhind also helped run the men's indoor volleyball program and a women's beach volleyball program.

Goodhind was 108-67 after six years in charge of Webber International.

He was also previously co-head coach at Warner Christian Academy in South Daytona, Fla. The team won back-to-back state championships with Goodhind on staff.

Goodhind has additional coaching experience in college volleyball in Florida, first serving as an assistant coach at Bethune-Cookman in Daytona, Fla., in 2006, then moving to Embry-Riddle (Fla.) as a volunteer assistant coach in 2007.

He also served as an assistant coach for the men's NCAA Division I program and NCAA DIII program at Rutgers-Newark before moving to Florida.

Goodhind has also been a very successful club coach, including the Lightning Volleyball Academy's (LVA) 18 Elite team. LVA competed in the Florida Region of USA Volleyball, where his team placed third in the USAV Girl's Junior National Championship in 2016.

Prior to LVA, Goodhind was with Power Volleyball in Daytona, where he coached the Power 15 National-M1720 team to the USAV Girl's Junior National Championship, where it finished second, and also won the AAU national championship in 2015.
