BARNSLEY GARDENS, Ga./ROME, Ga. – Both golf teams hit the course for the final time during the fall season on Tuesday as the men competed in the AAC Preview while the women teed it up in the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational.
On the men's side, the 24th-ranked Eagles had themselves in prime position heading into the final round of their event after finishing day one just one stroke behind leader Point (Ga.) through two sets of play. Reinhardt would card plus-27 on Tuesday, however, and slip to fourth-place overall out of 19 competing teams (+47; 911).
Individually, Seong Lee was out-front with a tie for sixth at 8-over-par (72,76,76). Christopher Whitney was two shots back and recovered nicely from a slow start to finish at plus-10. Rounding out the top five scorers for the Eagles was Lauri Malinen (T21), Hunter Clay (T32) and Jake McWhorter (T45).
Lauren Welte led the way for the women by starting her tournament with a 77 before coming in at a tie for 34th-place. The trio of Katie Kauffman, Meg McCord and Brooke Newsome came through in second through fourth position, narrowly followed by India Pilgram.
