Merrilles and Whitten Shine Brightest Again for AAC

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After another slate of matches featuring a stellar display of scoring the ball, Reinhardt's Adrien Merrilles and Aaron Whitten again swept Offensive Player of the Week accolades from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), the league office announced Monday afternoon.
This is the ninth edition of the weekly honors for the 2019 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Oct. 28.
AAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Adrien Merrilles - Sr. - Austell, Ga.
- Scored four goals last week.
- Netted two shots against both Brenau (Ga.) in a 2-0 win and Kentucky Christian in an 8-0 victory.
- Notched two assists against Kentucky Christian.
- This is her second weekly award this season.
AAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Aaron Whitten - Jr. - Locust Grove, Ga.
- Tallied six goals over the week.
- Scored two goals in an 8-1 win over Talladega (Ala.).
- Added four more goals and an assist against Kentucky Christian in an 8-1 win.
- This is his third weekly award this season.
This is the third time in almost a year that the pair has collected this award together (most recently Sept. 23).
Individually, Whitten ranks third in the NAIA in scoring with 19 made shots in 14 outings. Merrilles is tied 15th-place with 16 tallies.
The final regular-season doubleheader inside the lines at home for Reinhardt is Wednesday when another new conference member – Columbia International (S.C.) – storms into town for a 5 p.m. battle on the women's side.
The men's get-together will follow around 7 p.m.
